Initially built in 1971, the Modern Log Cabin sits on 22 acres of wilderness in Monterey, MA. Upon first sight, we immediately had a vision for this home. Valerie sketched her idea, and now it is reality.
A 1971 log home with decades of wear and no modern updates — but a New England character worth saving. The logs needed restoration, the layout needed space and light, and the whole thing needed to feel like it belonged on 22 acres of Berkshire wilderness.

The original log home had a New England spirit we needed to keep alive. Our team scrubbed, stained, and chinked the original logs — restoring the structure while giving it the maintenance to last another fifty years.
The addition was designed from Valerie's initial sketch. Windows everywhere. The modern wing floods the entire house with natural light while keeping a clear sightline to the surrounding woods — connecting every room to the landscape outside.
A home that feels both original and new. The restored logs carry the weight of history; the glass addition opens the house to the Berkshire landscape in a way the original never could. Every room connects to the outdoors — you're never more than a glance away from the 22 acres surrounding you.
